Deir Yassin Massacre
-
April 9th, 1948 is the date of the Zionist massacre at the village of Deir Yassin. Many have described this horrible massacre as being one of the most significant events of the 20th-century in Palestinian and Israeli history as it was the beginning of a clearly calculated depopulation of over 400 Arab villages and cities which witnessed the expulsion of 750,000 Palestinian inhabitants to make room for survivors of the Holocaust and other Jews from the rest of the world.

Following is a map of the attack, apparently from Irgun archives. It is not clear if this is the plan of attack, or the attack as carried out. The map shows the house of the Mukhtar in the West, and the main direction of attack of the Lehi and Irgun. It also shows quarries between Deir Yassin and Givat Shaul. In one of these quarries, according to Meir Pail, about 25 prisoners were shot by the attackers.
