INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING - By appointment only - Counseling services for HIV positive individuals and newly diagnosed HIV positive individuals. Counseling is model is client centered and allows the individual to explore inter and intra-personal emotions and feeling related to living with HIV. Therapy assist individuals in living an healthy life-style and living a productive life as an HIV positive person. Therapy is facilitated by a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
FAMILY THERAPY - By appointment only - Therapy for family menbers, spouces, life-partners, or significant others (who are HIV negative and caring for or living with an HIV positive loved one). Therapeutic model Structural and Communication Therapy. Facilitated by a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
Many Men Many Voices (3MV) - This group is for HIV positive and high risk negative African American Men and Spanish Speaking Men who understand English. 3MV is a group intervention for STD and HIV prevention. Contact Ray or Gilberto for time date and location. Closed Group Format with 7 Sessions. (Participants are asked to agree to attending the seven sessions in oder to receive the maximum benefits of the process.
COMMUNITY AND STREET OUTREACH - Outreach Specialist brings the information to the streets. HIV/AIDS prevention and intervention messages are provided to residents of the various communities of the Greater Birmingham Area and Jefferson County. Individuals are provide with age appropriate HIV/AIDS information as well and STD prevention messages. Outreach Specialist distribute safer-sex kits to individuals of appropriate age and make referrals to other service agencies.
Man-On-The-Streets (MOS) is a Community level intervention targeting African American Men and Spanish Speaking Men. Communtiy Health Advisors provide HIV/AIDS education and information to men who do not frequent Community-Based Organizations or other agencies for HIV/AIDS and STD information.
COMMUNITY BASED EDUCATIONAL SERVICES: Trained staff facilitate HIV/AIDS workshops, lectures, and training to Civic Groups, Colleges and Universities, Church Groups, Public and County Schools, Health Fairs and other agencies. PREVENTION CASE MANAGEMENT - (PCM) - PCM provides intensive on-going individualized prevention counseling, support and service brokerage to HIV positive individuals and High Risk Negatives. PCM is provided by Tony Morris, MA, Ed.S, MLAP (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist)
SYPHILIS ELIMINATION PROJECT - Provide Syphilis Education and Testing. This project tested over 2,000 individuals for syphilis in a 18 month period and located several individuals who tested positive for syphilis and never knew that they were infected. HIV ANTIBODY TESTING - This project provides HIV antibody testing via OraSure (no needles) or the traditional blood draw. Those individuals electing to test via OraSure receive test results within five days. Those individuals who test via blood draw receive thier results in two weeks. AIM will not give results via telephone, email, or fax.
