About Acadiana Profile Magazine
 |
The premier issue of Acadiana Profile magazine, published January/February 1969.
Founded in 1968 by Bob and Geraldine Angers, Acadiana Profile is a general-interest regional magazine based in Lafayette and circulating primarily in the 22-parish area of south Louisiana known as Acadiana, or Cajun Country. The magazine is published six times a year.
Acadiana Profile is the longest-living independent magazine in Louisiana history and one of the longest-running regional magazines in America.
Sometimes called “The Magazine of the Cajun Country,” Acadiana Profile is read thoroughly and complimented by many for the positive, caring manner with which it treats its subject matter. For instance, Arie and Charles Allen of Houston wrote in: “I take Louisiana Life and the Baton Rouge magazine…, but I feel a real closeness for my state when I read your magazine.”
The circulation is 10,000 on the average, with a readership of 40,000 to 50,000 people. The magazine has a high pass-along factor partly because of the broad diversification of subject matter carried in each issue.
The feature stories, photographs and illustrations used in the magazine are drawn almost exclusively from Acadiana. The subject matter presented includes the French-Acadian culture which thrives here, the artists and writers who deal with this land, the many tourist attractions of the region, the wild and beautiful out-doors, the recipes that have made Cajun cooking world famous, the various industries of the area’s economy, and the colorful politics and politicians.
